Want to hit the slopes this winter? Red Lodge Mountain, located just over an hour from Billings, is the place to be!

While summer is the popular season for fishing in Montana, ice fishing has its moment during the colder months! Thanks to underground springs, the Yellowstone River doesn’t freeze, so many of your favorite drive-up spots are still accessible in the winter.

With all of the nearby lakes and reservoirs, you have plenty of places to try out this fun winter activity, including Lake Elmo, Riverfront Park, and Deadman’s Basin!

  • 4th Annual Mug Crawl – calling all coffee lovers! Join the Downtown Billings Alliance for the 4th Annual Downtown Mug Crawl. This interactive, pub crawl style event gives you the opportunity to explore and experience the flavors and ambiance of Billings local downtown coffee and tea establishments on Saturday, February 10, 2024! ☕️

  • Taste of Red Lodge – Cross Culinary is a unique 2-day winter event that blends cross-country skiing with exquisite food prepared by local culinary artists. Hosted at the scenic Red Lodge Nordic Center, skiers will glide along groomed trails stopping for gourmet tastes while taking in the beauty of the Beartooth Foothills. 🍽️

  • Montana Winter Fair – The Montana Winter Fair was hosted every January in Bozeman from 1946 through 2002, when it relocated to Lewistown, the center of the state. Montana Winter Fair continues its traditions with participants, young and old from all over!   • 41st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Celtic Fair – This annual FREE community event has been a tradition in the Billings community for 41 years. It features a parade of over 40 festive floats and the Celtic Fair & Street Party fill the streets below Skypoint with the scent of street food and the festive sound of music, cloggers, bag-pipers.
