Billings Community Member Highlight: Top Deck Medical Aesthetics

A few weeks ago on the blog we started a brand new series that’s all about highlighting some of the best of the best in Billings that truly make the community what it is.

Even though Billings is the largest city in Montana, there’s just something about it that also has a small town feel.

As a real estate agent in Billings, I get the pleasure of meeting a LOT of people and hearing their stories and it's without a doubt the best part of the job.

I wanted a way to bring some of those stories and introductions to YOU and there’s no better way to do that than through the blog.

Welcome to your second edition of the Billings Community Member Highlight series that aims to introduce you to some of my favorite people!

Throughout this series, you’ll meet various business owners who I personally know and work with and I believe these people play a massive part in making Billings so amazing.

Let me introduce you to one of my go-to gals, Jamie Decker of Top Deck Medical!

I’m not ashamed to say that ya girl loves herself some botox and I love a good self care day and I can honestly say that Jamie and her team at Top Deck are truly the best around town. 🧖🏼‍♀️

Top Deck Medical Aesthetics in Billings, Montana

Jamie Decker is the owner of Top Deck Medical where she serves clients through cosmetic services, like injectables, facials, laser hair removal, professional skin care, and IV hydration services.

In Jamie’s words, Top Deck is the place to go if you want a confidence boost and I couldn’t agree more.

As someone who personally loves consistent facials and isn't scared of a little botox here and there, Jamie & her team are the girls I call when I want to be pampered and walk out feeling myself. 💁🏼‍♀️

But don’t get it twisted – Top Deck isn’t just for the girls! They serve men and women alike who are looking to age gracefully and seek minimally invasive procedures to do so.

When asked what inspired Jamie to start her business in Billings, she said:

“I got Botox! At the age of 32 I got Botox for the first time and felt incredibly confident. I immediately knew I wanted to offer this service to other men and women in the Montana region.

I was living in Billings and working at the hospital at that time as a hospitalist provider and getting my nails done at a nail spa in Billings when the owner there offered to let me rent a room there to start my business.

One year later, we had grown at such a rapid pace and needed more space and more staff. The rest is history!”

Top Deck Medical Aesthetics (TDMA) has been open in Billings since March of 2020 and they opened their doors just two weeks before the world got flipped upside down.

Jamie said this turn of events was one of the greatest challenges they’ve ever faced as it brought their business to a screeching halt.

Even though the doors were closed for quite some time, they were shocked to discover that the world of medical aesthetics would actually see a rapid growth of approximately 36% during this time!

This is largely attributed to the fact that the majority of people were now working on their laptops from home and were having to see themselves on a screen all day via Zoom which led to a large demand post quarantine for aesthetics services.

Jamie said that Top Deck, even as a brand new business, saw a massive spike in people seeking treatment and services throughout Billings and that growth has continued since 2020, especially as the West End continues to expand.

Top Deck Medical has two practice locations – in Billings and Butte – which allows their team to serve a very diverse patient population.

“Our Billings clientele often come ready to talk about a specific procedure or product they have read about or seen online. I love to have open and running conversations with patients about what we offer, so when they come with some base knowledge it makes for a fun conversation.

We also see a large range of patients at the Billings location including many patients from Lame Deer, Laurel, Glendive, Miles City, Ekalaka, Colstrip and even Cody, Wyoming.”

When asked about her favorite part of working and owning a business in Billings, Jamie said it’s without a doubt the patients they serve!

“There is such a broad range of individuals in Billings, but it is still very much interconnected. Almost every patient we see is referred to us by a friend or family member and I love that about living in Montana.

Second to that is the staff I employ. Three other women who live in Billings truly run the show at TDMA, including Abby Picicci, RN as our nurse injector, Jordy Freiboth as our esthetician, spray tan artist, and makeup artist, and Carla Larkin as our social media and marketing coordinator.

Having a clinic like TDMA would not be possible without the amazing team we have.”

Although medical aesthetics can sometimes have a negative connotation, Jamie does a great job of showcasing what they’re all about – which is truly giving the gift of confidence.

“Medical aesthetics is such a special place to work. We often see women who are going through something tough in their lives (i.e. post cancer, divorce, etc.) who come to us to help them feel like themselves again.

We even see women who are seeking out new job opportunities later in life and want to feel like they have an edge. This is one of my most favorite parts about this industry, giving people back their confidence.

Due to HIPAA we keep patient successes and triumphs, as well as the hard parts of their stories private. Just know if you need us, we will be here!”

When asked how the Top Deck Medical team engages with their clients and continues to build strong relationships within the community, Jamie said:

“We are well known for educating our patients. We have had a lot of patients come to us for a consultation that end up being long-time patients of ours just by providing them education.

We always go through a full facial assessment with each patient when they ask how we can help them achieve a more youthful appearance. This allows us the space to show patients areas that may need to be treated when all they originally came for was the lips.

We love to have conversations with our patients about a long-term treatment plan, and how to get there. Most of the time patients aren’t aware of all of the services we have, so the consultation is key to show them our entire service line.”

In addition to Jamie’s genuine heart behind the business, another amazing thing about the Top Deck Medical practice is that they not only promote their own business by seeing patients in-office, but they actively promote surrounding shops and restaurants as well.

“With Billings being a large city, many patients come to see us, but will follow up their visit by shopping at other local stores. I love that we get to add additional funds into the community when our patients visit Billings.”

One of Top Deck’s biggest goals is collaboration with other small businesses and they have yearly events to help make that happen.

“Each year we host an open house and invite other small businesses into our space to showcase their services and talents to our patients. This allows those in the community to have an opportunity to see what other small businesses might have to offer.

We also host other small businesses throughout the year. Most recently we were invited to the Avenue Salon Company with Vilova Beauty Bar in Downtown Billings for an evening of shopping and tox. Several other small businesses were also there, and I even did some shopping!”

When asked what sets Top Deck Medical apart from others in the same industry, Jamie said without a doubt the training.

“At TDMA we spend an exponential amount of time, energy, and finances on training our staff. Here in Montana our access to training is limited, so just in this year alone (2023) I have been to Seattle, Miami, and Los Angeles for continued education and hands-on training.

Medical aesthetics is a RAPIDLY changing industry, so we train often to provide the best options and outcomes to our patients.

Abby, our nurse injector in Billings, went to a facial cadaver anatomy course this year in Los Angeles, and Jordy, our esthetician, spent several days at Bespoke Beauty in Missoula this spring. We take training and education very seriously and make it a priority!”

Even after being in business for 3 years, Top Deck continues to advance and find new ways to serve Billings and the surrounding community. When asked about future plans, Jamie mentioned that:

“We are building a full-scale clinic in Butte, MT with Direct Primary Care Services. This will provide faster, more personable, and easier access to medical care!”

Aside from doing business in Billings, Jamie also lives in the area and does life with her family and friends. With this, everyone always has their tried and true favorite spots, so I had to ask Jamie what her top recs are when she isn’t injecting.

“I love the coffee from Maple Moose – I’m a sweet coffee kind of girl, so my go to is an iced white chocolate mocha.

If you haven’t been to Samurai on Central Avenue, they have the best Pho in Billings and the service is excellent. Lastly, the Buffalo Block has arguably the best steak in Montana. It’s a place I always recommend to patients visiting the area.”

Lastly, because I’m in deep with the various communities around Billings as a real estate agent, I was curious to know if Jamie had a favorite community of her own (everyone usually does) and she said:

“I’m a West End gal at heart. It is where Top Deck Medical has always been located, so it holds a special place for me!”
